In celebration of what would have been James’ 24th Birthday on 16 March 2014, James Bulger Memorial Trust has teamed up with Care2Save.co.uk to provide an invaluable new long-term income stream for the charity.
The Care2Save.co.uk service enables James Bulger Memorial Trust supporters to donate to the inspirational work of the charity at no extra cost to themselves when shopping online with several hundred of the UK’s leading high street brands via the www.care2save.co.uk portal.
Care2Save.co.uk has partnered with a numerous major names such as Debenhams, Boots, House of Fraser, Monarch and BT, and is actively encouraging consumers to utilise the service, which the Trust recognises as an ideal form of generating extra funds in today’s challenging economic conditions. The Care2Save website is developing rapidly with a new site incorporating nearly 2000 partners due to launch by May.
Every year UK shoppers spend billions of pounds shopping online, from booking annual holidays, to shopping for clothes and weekly groceries, generating a commission which boosts profits in the corporate sector. As a registered charity Care2Save takes 100 per cent of the commission generated on purchases made through www.Care2Save.co.uk and ensures that every penny is given to good causes.
80 per cent of the commission made via the Care2Save website will go directly to shoppers’ favourite charity, which is why James Bulger Memorial Trust is urging its supporters to use the website and name the Trust as their chosen charity.
The remaining 20 per cent also goes to charity, in the form of the Care2Save Charitable Trust, which will distribute all profits to hospices and palliative care projects in the UK and around the world.
James’ mother and charity founder Denise Fergus of The James Bulger Memorial Trust explains: “We see this partnership as a key way for our much valued supporters to donate to our work at no extra cost to themselves.
With the economic climate, we recognise that there is less disposable income available to our donors, so by partnering with Care2Save.co.uk our supporters can still give to our charity and make a difference.
“I am wholeheartedly encouraging those who like to shop online to take a look at the Care2Save.co.uk website, and nominate us as your preferred charity, as your support will make a valuable impact on the care that we are able to give to the families we help.”
Andrea Fragata Ladeira, CEO of the Care2Save Charitable Trust, commented: “I am delighted to launch this more recent partnership, and I hope very much that the community served by The James Bulger Memorial Trust will go online and register with www.care2save.co.uk and start giving to a charity which makes a difference in their community.”
Millions remember with horror the terrible abduction and murder of two-year-old James that happened in February 1993 in the Bootle area.
To this day Denise continues to receive messages of sympathy and support from people all over the world.
The 16 March 2011, the date that should have marked James’ 21st birthday, saw Denise launch The James Bulger Memorial Trust (Registered Charity No.1141125), to do good work in his name.
A nucleus of Trustees has been appointed to help administer the charity and they are supporting Denise in her determination to do good works in James’ name.
The charity which operates under the title “For James”, benefits and supports young people who have become the victims of crime, hatred or bullying. It also rewards those who are judged to have shown exemplary conduct, making a positive contribution to the welfare of others, or society in general.
They provide cost-free travel and holiday accommodation for such children and their families; along with a range of other tangible rewards.
Nominations are on an on-going basis invited from the public for the names of individuals who are suitable candidates to benefit from the James Bulger Memorial Trust.
